News from Lyoko – 10th December 2024

13 months ago, Sophie Decroisette and Jerome Mouscadet announced that they will be working on a continuation of the series. In May this year, it was added that we could expect news around September. However, so far there have been no broader announcements. One French fan decided to write to Decroisette on LinkedIn. The response he received reads:

We have not abandoned the project, there is slow progress.

We are still waiting for more information, we have an eye on the matter. In addition to the news, we present a journalistic text by our admin, Jeremie_96, titled “Copyright, creators and business”. The idea for it came during talks among the Centrum Lyoko’s administration regarding the future of the series. From word to word, we came to the conclusion that it would be worth explaining some legal issues that may affect when we can expect a decision regarding the new series. You can read it here.

A former employee of Splash Entertainment, the company representing Moonscoop in the US, reached out on Reddit. He was also an executive producer on the series, albeit briefly. While cleaning out the office, he could take whatever he liked. It turned out that there were three of a limited edition of 200 canvas prints depicting the Lyoko Warriors. They are signed by Tania Palumbo, one of the series’ co-creators. The prints are 24×36, one of them was given to a friend, and the employee has two left. He wants to sell them, the offer is not yet known, but interested parties can contact him. The canvases are in very good condition. The painting looks like this:

Versions 4.7.3 and 4.7.4 of the IFSCL simulator have already been published, and work on version 4.8.X will begin this year, which will most likely be released in mid-2025, five years after the introduction of the story mode to the game. We will learn more details about the upcoming plans on December 16.

A video has been released showing the process of creating a virtual version of Sissi for IFSCL.

There have been no episode compilations on the official YT channels for over two months. The last one was published on September 7. There are 9 in total on the English channel.

Last weekend, the Warsaw Fantasy Fair took place in Poland. There was a group reenacting almost all the characters from the series. They agreed to take a photo, and our special correspondent talked them into a short conversation.

- Where did the idea for such a cosplay come from?

- Generally, we met through the "Persona" series and so far we've only done cosplays from that game - the group answers. - During a casual conversation about cartoons, it turned out that most of us had watched Code Lyoko at some point and really liked the series. We started doing a rewatch together and that's when we came up with the idea that it would be cool to do a cosplay of these characters. Besides, we've never seen anyone cosplay CL, and we thought that such a series deserves it. We also noticed, when comparing CL to "Persona", that there are a lot of similarities. Everyone had their favorite characters.

Traditionally, we leave at the end of the news a review of fan art from recent times. Because of some Twitter issues: this time we leave contents in form of links.
